Condylomata Information and Treatment
Condylomata is basically a skin disease typical to youth, but Condylomata may occur to the people at any age. It is a type of a viral skin disease which is characterized by soft wart like growth on the genitals. Genital warts may be as small as 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter smaller than the width of a ballpoint pen refill or may multiply into large clusters. This virus can cause warts on the penis, vulva, urethra, vagina, cervix, and around the anus. Infection with HPV around the gentials is very common, although most people have no symptoms. The HPV in condylomata acuminata is very contagious and can be spread by skin-to-skin contact. Condylomata affect both genders. The incubation period after exposure ranges from three weeks to eight months. Most infections are transient and cleared within two years. In the case of male genitalia, the genital warts are drier and limited as compared to the female genitalia or around the anus of either sex. They are prominent in the moist genital area. It causes tumors which are raised, rough and flesh colored and may occur either singly or in clusters.
Condylomata is a very common type of skin disorders but is very dangerous also. Most experts believe that Condylomata are at higher risk of turning into melanoma as compared to normal moles. Genital warts can lead to cancer of the cervix in women or cancer of the penis in men. In men, they may be found on the tip or shaft of the penis, the scrotum or the anus. There are more than 70 different types of HPV. Several types are associated with genital warts. Other types are associated with common or flat warts elsewhere on the skin. These warts are flat and not easily visible without special procedures. Lesions on the external genitalia are easily recognized. In men, they may be found on the tip or shaft of the penis, the scrotum or the anus. They can also develop in the mouth or throat of a person who has had oral sexual contact with an infected person. The risk of disease increases with the number of sexual partners. Since the virus can result in premalignant changes in the cervix, therefore it becomes necessary to diagnose this condition and get a proper treatment for it.
